Adoption from Spain

It is possible to adopt a Spanish or international child vie the Andalucian Regional Government. But not everyone is eligible for each type of adoption. The requirements often change so it’s best to contact "Centro de Atención al Niño". You must meet a social worker which will introduce you to the process and ask you a few questions. These are the general stages you can expect if you are able to proceed and decide to go ahead.

Certificate for "Suitable Parent"

First you have to pass a number of  "controls" in order to obtain something called in Spanish the "Certificado de Idoneidad". You can gain this from the regional government only if you are approved by a psychologist and social worker. Obtaining this certificate can take up to six months.

Agencies

When you obtain your certificate you will be ready to proceed with the adoption. You must know that the competition for Spanish babies is very tough especially when it is about international adoptions.
The documents that could be required are: certified copies of your identification, birth certificates, criminal records, architectural plans of your home, international marriage certificates, certification of your income and expenses, proof of employment and photos of your family and home. If, you choose to work with an adoption agency you will be supported by it all the way.
