Clothes - what to wear
In generally Spain is warm in the tourist season so wear light cotton clothes, and light shoes.
Business Hours
State shops and offices work from 9 to14 and privet firms from 9 to 20, Banks are opened from 9 to14. The lunch brake is called “siesta” and it’s about 3 hours. The siesta is something like tradition for the Spaniards. See more about Business in Spain.
Tipping
A service charge is usuall included in the bill. You can put a little extra tip if you are pleased, but you don’t have to tip a lousy waiter. Large tips are not common and they are not expected. It is typically to leave the small change after paying with a note.
Respect
Spaniards are generaly very patriotic about their country or region in which they live so it is better avoid arguments about whether people from Catalonia or the Basque Country are Spaniards or not.
It is customary to kiss family, or friends on both cheeks without the lips actually making contact with the cheek. Male-to-male kisses of this sort are quite limited to family members or between gay people.
During lunch or dinner, Spanish people do not begin to eat until everyone is seated and ready to eat. It is the same when you are finished with your meal.You do not leave the table until everyone is finished eating.
In a car, the elderly and pregnant always ride in the passenger`s seat, unless they wish not to.
Appearing drunk in public is generally not a nice thing.
Theft
Spain is in generaly a safe country, but you should take some basic precautions such as trying to avoid showing expenseive cameras in depressed areas and watching your bar in touristic places. Also you should not carry large amoungs of money with you. Watch out for pickpockets when visiting crowded areas with a lot of people
Aways avoid gypsy women at all costs.
